Mark English finished third in his 800m semi-final to qualify for the Final at the European Championships in Munich.

The Finn Valley AC man crossed the finish line in 1:46.66 in the second semi-final to qualify automatically.

The Letterkenny athlete was behind Spaniard Mariano García and Great Britain’s Jake Wightman who finished in 1:46.52 and 1:46.61 respectively.

The pace of English’s heat was stronger than the first semi-final, with Britain’s Ben Pattison (1:46.95) and Belgian Elliot Crestan (1:47.13) both qualifying in fourth and fifth behind English.
