Roisin Flanagan was 14th in the 5,000m final at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich.

The Finn Valley athlete finished in 15:33.72, seven seconds off of her Personal Best of 15:26.76 she set less than two weeks ago at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Roisin spoke to RTÉ after, saying: “I’m a little disappointed because I think I’m better than that but at the same time it’s my first European Senior Championship on the track.

“I feel like I gave it my best out there.”

She added: “To run it twice in less than two weeks I think it was a bit too much for my legs. But I hope come next year I’ll be a lot more prepared to run back-to-back 5k’s come Championship season.”

German athlete Konstanze Klosterhalfen won the event on home soil, crossing the line in 14:50.47, with Turkey’s Yasemin Can in second in 14:56.91.
