Motorists are facing long delays at the old camel’s hump in Lifford as temporary traffic lights have been put in place.
It is advised to avoid the area as it could take up to an hour to get through the roundabout from the Murlog junction area.
Councillor Gary Doherty took to social media to warn the public of the delays, and was disappointed to not have been notified beforehand that these roadworks would take place.
The Councillor said: “There are currently significant traffic delays in Lifford at the moment due to temporary traffic lights at roadworks at the old camel’s hump.
“It’s currently taking approximately 40/45 minutes to get from the Murlog junction to the roundabout so please avoid the area for now if at all possible.
“I was certainly not made aware that these works were due to be carried out today, and going forward we must ensure that there is better communication between the authorities on both sides of the bridge to ensure that delays like this are minimised where at all possible.”
