Irwin Racing travelled to a sunny Cadwell Park for Round 7 of the British Superbikes Premier Class.

The famous track did not disappoint the 50,000 spectators with spectacular racing over the Bank Holiday event.

Rhys Irwin on his Factory Astro Triumph took a leap forward qualifying in 3rd Place in his class. Race 1 saw lovely warm conditions and the young Irwin racer have a cracking start up into second place early in the event holding his position until disaster struck forcing him to retire with a mechanical fault.

Race 2 saw Rhys again get a great start racing with the front runners and finishing an incredible 6th place overall.

“I love this track” Said Rhys “It is really a technical track with the mountain jump and takes concentration and a strong nerve. We have had a hard start to the season developing the Triumph but we are making good progress and getting good results”

Caolán on his R&R Yamaha again enjoying a solid weekend finishing from 22 on the grid P14 and P 10 in Race 1 & 2 respectively.

When asked Caolán said “I am racing with a great team who put their heart and soul into giving me the best bike they can every weekend. This weekend was definitely damage limitation for the Championship.

“Our main race engine is getting refreshed so we were running our back up race engine which unfortunately gave bother in Qualifying, forcing us to use a standard Stock engine which is far from ideal well down in power.

“I just kept the head down and plugged away and really outdid any expectations I had for points and I am really happy with my results”

As always the boys wish to thank their teams R&R Racing, Astro Triumph and all their mechanics and team workers.

All their sponsors that make racing possible for them, especially their local supporters RK Racing, James Gallagher of Oasis Bar and Northwest Customs, Letterkenny, Hugh Kelly Tree Surgeon Ballybofey, Wesley Regan Sligo, Principal Insurance, Mondello Park Supporters Club, Mondello Race Circuit, Motorcycling Ireland & Coastal Ink Creeslough.
