A sensational amount of money has been raised following the Toye Charity Barn Dance in Mnaorcunningham last month.

The barn dance was held on the 9th of July in Ruskey, Manorcunningham, with massive crowds in attendance.

John and Colleen Toye ran the event on their farmyard and have been overwhelmed by the support, raising over €55,000.

The organisers, John and Colleen Toye, enjoying their night at the barn dance.

The charities that the money was being raised for include: Good and New Cancer Bus, Local Community Counselling Services, Drumoghill Chapel Fund, Raymochey Parish Church Manorcunningham, and Raphoe and Ballindrait Presbyterian Church.

All of the money was raised from just the night of the barn dance, but there was also a free of charge night on the Friday so that the children of the community could get involved in the festivities and not miss out.

The night of the barn dance consisted of live music with 3 bands, along with three fully stocked bars, hot food (included in entry price), and an auction with items donated by business and people from the local community.

Colleen Toye said: “We are so thankful for all the help and support that we received from family members, from friends and from volunteers from our charities and from all the people that bought tickets and donated to our event.

“We are holding a presentation on Saturday 3rd to hand over the money to the charities, this will be a free night with finger food served in Maggies Tavern in St Johnston.”
