Geraldine Mullan has been crowned the individual Community Champion of the year at the Derry Journal People of the Year Awards.
The awards took place last night to honour remarkable local groups and individuals who make a difference in their communities.
Over the past year, Geraldine’s volunteer work in Moville has brought thousands of smiles to people in loving memory of her family.
Geraldine, who lost her husband and two children in the Lough Foyle tragedy, has since dedicated her time to creating a welcoming community space for families to make precious memories.
In July 2021 she opened the Mullan HOPE Centre in her adopted town of Moville as a ‘hub of positive energy’.
And last month she brought immense joy to Quigley’s Point by creating a field of HOPE, full of stunning sunflowers for people to enjoy.
Geraldine received a standing ovation last night in the Everglades Hotel on winning the award.
