Maximum points are all relative for cousins Maeve and Tommy!

One member of the family achieving maximum points in the Leaving Certificate is impressive.

But two members of the same extended family both getting 625 points is not something that happens every year.

Step forward first cousins Maeve and Tommy O’Brien.

Meave, who attends Loreto Letterkenny, was delighted when she achieved maximum grades yesterday.

But just for good measure her cousin Tommy, who attended St Eunan’s College, did exactly the same.

Tommy is the son of Mary and Robert O’Brien while Maeve is the daughter of Joseph and Yvonne O’Brien.

Maeve plans to study medicine at University College Galway while Tommy plans to study veterinary medicine in University College Dublin.

Both said they are delighted with their results and and are grateful to everyone who has encouraged and supported them on their journey especially their teachers.

We wish them and everyone who got their Leaving Certificates results the very best for the future.
