A Letterkenny charity shop has issued an appeal after bags of rubbish were dumped outside the door this week.
Staff at the Irish Wheelchair Association store on Pearse Road were greeted by a huge haul of broken toys and broken furniture on the doorstep on Monday. Not only was the rubbish unsellable, but the store faced an additional cost of getting the bags disposed of properly.
A statement from the team said: “We are a charity and not a rubbish disposal centre. The money we will have to spend on rubbish removal for these bags is money we won’t be able to spend on supporting people with disabilities in Donegal.
“Please don’t leave bags when the shop is not open and please don’t “donate” rubbish. We are open 10am – 5pm Monday to Saturday.
“We accept clothing/shoes/hats & accessories in any condition. Linens and curtains in any condition, good quality furniture, toiletries, books and household bric-a-brac in good condition.
“Thank you to all who generously donate to our charity.”
