September 13, 2022

A Dublin man allegedly burgled a house in rural Donegal while armed with a wheel brace.

James Gallagher (36) from Cushlawn Park, Tallaght, will go on trial before the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court.

It is alleged Gallagher committed a burglary at the home of Edward Sweeney at Doaghbeg, Fanad, on September 23, 2018.

At Letterkenny District Court today, Garda Adam Daly told Judge Éiteáin Cunningham he served a book of evidence on the defendant.

Sergeant Gerard Dalton told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had consented to the accused being forwarded to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court, which commences on October 18.

Judge Cunningham administered the alibi warning and made a section order in relation to the provision of videotapes of interviews for the defence.

Legal aid was granted to solicitor Mr Kevin Tunney to include one senior counsel.
