Jodie Loughrey has been named in the Republic of Ireland under-17 squad for a double header with Portugal next week.

The Buncrana native was called up by James Scott for the two warm-up games in preparation for their upcoming UEFA Women’s Under-17 European Championship qualifiers.

In late October, the WU17s will travel to Northern Ireland for their Group A3 games against the hosts, as well as Austria and Finland.

Loughrey, who plays for the Donegal Womens League side, has captained the under-17 side as recently as July, when she also scored as her side won the Fibrus SCNI GLOBE Final against Northern Ireland at the SuperCup NI.

And Loughrey is part of the 22-player squad that will travel to Portugal for a double header, with the first game taking place on Thursday 29th September at Estádio Nacional do Jamor.

The two sides will meet again then on Sunday 2nd October at Cidade do Futebol.
