Accident prevention measures planned for busy Letterkenny road

Funding of €25,000 has been granted to design low cost accident measures for the Ramelton Road outside Letterkenny.

Works are scheduled to improve the safety of two of the road’s busy junctions at Loughnagin and Golf Course Road.

The Letterkenny-Milford MD roads department is progressing the scheme within the next two months.

The measures come following a number of crashes in the area in recent years. Local Councillors had raised the issue several times with the local authority as they sought action to protect motorists and pedestrians.

Earlier this month, Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh raised the safety concerns again following a multi-vehicle crash at the Golf Course Road junction. He has welcomed the plans for the scheme, which are to be competed by the end of November.
