Last orders as famous Donegal restaurant gets a slice of ‘pizza and quiet’

One of Donegal’s most famous restaurants has shut its doors for good.

Pat’s On The Square opened 38 years ago and was probably one of the first pizzerias in the county.

The restaurant, at Market Square in Letterkenny, closed during the pandemic but many of its loyal fans had hoped it would reopen.

But now husband and wife owners Mary and Pat Bradley have decided to keep the doors closed for good.

Mary (Keeney) thanked her staff and customers for their loyalty over the years.

She said “Well that’s it! We closed our doors in March 2020… we all know why!

Mary says goodbye to Pats on the Square.

“I’ve been running up and down those stairs for 38 years. Pat and me were so young when we started and we worked so hard.

“We’ve had some fantastic people working with us. Sou know well who you are and you also know we couldn’t have done it without you!

“We’ve also had the most loyal and wonderful customers a restaurant could ask for….again you know who you are.”

However, the good news is that you can still get that famous Pat’s Pizza as the company has a takeaway at Mountaintop in Letterkenny.

“The standards are just as good, if not better,” laughed Mary.
