Caolan McFadden has landed National gold on home soil in the Under-16 boys at the National Cross Country Championships at the Rosapenna Golf Course.

The Cranford AC athlete won in a time of 12:35, just ahead of Francis Donoghue in second, with the pair enjoying a brilliant battle the whole way until the last 200 metres.

McFadden tucked in behind the leader Donoghue from Sligo, and the pair broke away from the rest of the pack before the home athlete kicked away to win well.

Caolan McFadden (Cranford AC) wins in home soil in the boys U16 race. What a celebration 🤩
