Donegal Ladies to face Galway in League opener

Donegal make the trip to Galway for their first game of the 2023 Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 1.

Donegal, who defeated Galway 0-10 to 0-7 in last year’s opening Division 1A game in MacCumhaill Park, will travel to Galway on the 22nd of January for the opening game.

Maxi Curran’s side will then take on last year’s League and All-Ireland winners Meath at home in the second round.

They face long away trips to Kerry and Cork in February, with a home game against Waterford in between, while their last two games will be at home to Dublin and Mayo in March.

The format for 2023 is different to recent years, with the top eight teams all playing each other once with the top two contesting the final, as opposed to the two groups of four with the top two in each group advancing to the semi-finals.

Donegal reached the final last year, but were beaten by Meath in Croke Park.
