The scoreline says it all as Omagh CBS recorded their second victory in this year’s McRory Cup with an impressive performance at Pairc Naomh Columba in Glenswilly.

St Eunan’s 0-3

Omagh CBS 4-13

By Charlie Collins

The result was never in doubt as the visiting team took control early in the game and never looked back.

Their first goal came seconds into the game when it looked like St.Eunans had broken up their attack from the throw-in0.

However, Omagh regained possession and Daithi McCallion blasted the ball past Mark Margey to the net.

Two quick points from Daithi Gildea and Eoghan Doherty had Eunans back in the game but that didn’t last long.

Omagh CBS added a rapid fired 1-05 without reply to lead by 2-05 to 0-02, Eoin McElholm adding  their goal after a poor kick-out had been intercepted and Conor Owens kicking four points , two from frees .

We then had a scoreless period with St.Eunans competing well, but unable to break down a resolute Omagh defence.

In the latter stages of the half, CBS added another 1-03 to their score, two points from McElholm , one from Ruairi McCullagh and a third goal from Conor Owens , to leave the half-time score 3-08 to 0-02.

The second-half  started as the first had, a goal for Omagh after twelve seconds, Owens finishing off a move straight from the throw-in .

They added another four points quickly, two from Liam Og Mossey , and one each from sub Niall McCarron and wing-back Thomas Haigney .

Although well beaten by a much stronger team, and to their credit, St.Eunans kept trying until the end, Brendan O’Hagan converting a free for the third point.

Interestingly, the young Newtown lad plays his club and county football in Armagh.

Two wins for this impressive Omagh CBS team but two defeats for the St.Eunans lads with St.Micheal’s Enniskillen up next.

The Fermanagh outfit defeated St. Patrick’s, Cavan by 2-11 to 0-06, outscoring their opponents by 1-07 to 0-01 in the second-half.
