A warning from Met Eireann of snow accumulations in Donegal have not yet come to pass.
However, pedestrians and motorists have been warned of black ice in many parts of the county.
Some bus companies including Gallagher Buses have decided to pull their services altogether.
Others are only operating limited services because of the conditions of the roads.
Donegal County Council did grit all of the county’s primary roads overnight but many secondary roads are dangerous.
Some schools have also been hit because of the dangerous driving conditions.
Scoil Cholmcille in Drumman has remained closed due to what it described as “treacherous road conditions.”
A number of pubs including the Railway Inn in Fintown closed at 9pm last night to allow staff to get home safely because of freezing conditions.
