Burt were crowned Under-21 C Champions today after an emphatic win over Red Hughs in Convoy.
Burt 5-11 Red Hughs 1-7
A slow starting game, Burt’s first goal came through Keith McColgan, and led by a goal after 22 minutes, 1-3 to 0-3.
While Red Hughs were in no way out of it come the half-time whistle, at 2-4 to 0-5, it still looked an uphill task for them at the Centre of Excellence.
Conor O’Donnell got the second Burt goal, and the third came from Michael McElroy which sealed the game, driving into a 3-9 to 0-7 lead with 15 minutes to go.
Red Hughs found the back of the net themselves moments later but Burt kept chipping away with points of their own before another two goals, one from McElroy and the other from Conor Gartland, sealed the game.
That ensured Burt would complete an Under-21 Championship double, adding the C Championship to their U21A Hurling title.
