Daniel O’Donnell’s Christmas wish is set to come true this year as he sings with his home choir again.
After two years of restrictions, the Kincasslagh choir will come together again for Mass on Christmas Eve.
Daniel gave special solo performances during the past two years when services had to be livestreamed to parishioners.
But this weekend, he’s looking forward to St Mary’s Church being filled again.
Daniel told Newstalk FM: “It’s great that all these things are kind of back to normal this year. Just the whole thing of the chapel and singing with the choir.
“Last couple of years, I sang just with the organist. The first year of COVID, the priest asked, would I come, and it was myself, the organist and the priest – you know, the mass was streamed and nobody was there.
“Then even last year, there was big restrictions, so again, it was myself and the organist.
“That’s a very special thing for me to be able to do. It is just lovely.”
Daniel is looking forward to an exciting Christmas at home in Donegal with his grandchildren, he said. He and Majella will have a busy house with the little ones, but he’ll also be taking time to join Henry McKean for ‘Henry’s Christmas Cracker’ on Newstalk this Christmas Day at 10am.
