Tributes have been paid to popular Bundoran LGFA player, the late Tanya Dunne (née O’Shea).

Late of Stracomer View, Bundoran and formerly of Belleek, she was just 42 years-of-age.

Tanya passed away yesterday at Sligo University Hospital after a long and brave battle with cancer.

“Everyone at Donegal LGFA are saddened to hear of the passing of Tanya Dunne,” a spokesperson said.

A native of Fermanagh, she became a huge part of Gaelic football in Donegal, Aodh Ruadh and, more recently, with the amalgamation with Bundoran to form Realt Ruadh.

“Not only did Tanya play her part on the field as a player, she was also a member of club and county executives in secretary, treasurer, fixtures and PRO roles,” the spokesperson added.

“She will also be fondly remembered as an underage coach to many young girls in the parish.”

Tanya’s funeral will take place tomorrow (Friday) at 12 noon at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Bundoran, followed by interment at St. Ninnidh’s Cemetery.

Condolences to the O’Shea and Dunne families as well as to Tanya’s wider circle of family and friends.
