A Donegal actor and singer has used the stage to tell a packed West End theatre about his love for his hometown.

Denis Grindel, from Stranorlar, made the speech at the end of the hit musical ‘The Choir of Man.’

In it, he tells of the place where ‘the Finn runs free’ and where his mum was born, raised and ‘where we laid her down to rest.’

Denis lost his beloved mum Margaret on 30th January 2020.

Margaret was a hugely popular Stranorlar woman and former schoolteacher at the nearby St Columba’s College.

“A lovely end to 2022, rejoining The Choir Of Man in the West End. Sharing my home speech about #Donegal from last night’s show,” he posted on social media.

“The holidays can be a difficult time of year for many, especially if you’ve lost a loved one, or are separated from family and friends.

“Thinking of all those feeling lost, lonely or homesick. Here’s to happy days ahead. Take care of yourselves.”
