Daniel O’Donnell has paid tribute to Seamus Begley, one of Ireland’s finest ever musicians who has passed away.
The Donegal singer said he had the honour of playing with the Kerryman and referred to him as a “true legend.”
Mr Begley died yesterday at the age of 73.
Daniel said “Very sad to hear of the passing of Seamus Begley. It was an honour to have him on Opry an Iuir.
Deepest sympathy to his family. RIP Seamus. A true legend of Irish music.”
Originally from west Kerry, Begley was regarded as one of the country’s finest accordion players, having hailed from a family that was steeped in traditional music.
He left school at 12, while his musical skills led to playing at the céilithe in local halls, including his father’s in Muirioch in Dingle.
