Killybegs Main Street road has been reopened following a fatal traffic collision that occurred yesterday evening.

Recently retired post-mistress, Eileen Kennedy from The Glebe was struck by a silver Ford van on the Donegal Road in close proximity to the local community hospital at around 5pm.

The well-known lady was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem is due to be carried out on her remains.

She is the first person to lose her life on Donegal’s roads this year.

The road stayed closed overnight but the road closure is no longer in place and is now open again.
