Gardaí from the Roads Policing Unit in Buncrana were the ‘salt of the earth’ when the snow arrived last night.

Heavy snow brought the town to a standstill on Monday evening.

With traffic stuck on the Cockhill Road, local gardaí switched their duties from speed watching to salt spreading!

A team of gardaí assisted local farmers in distributing salt along the roads to get the traffic moving again.

Watch here:

A garda spokesperson said: “Well done to all who gave up their time for the good of their community this evening!”
