The Donegal Railway Heritage Centre is seeking the public’s help in identifying the name of a bus driver in a historic picture.
Historian Hugh Dougherty took the picture in 1968 and is trying to identify the driver on the right of the picture.
Hugh takes up the story “I attach a picture I took down at Killybegs and you can see the now long-demolished station building to the left of the bus.
“The bus is about to head back to Strabane, July 1968. On the left is Tommy Kenny, a former railcar guard who lived in Killybegs, and worked the last train out of the station. He was then in charge at the station, looking after the CDR buses and lorries.
The bus, Leyland Leopard E158, was on hire from CIE for the summer period, but I’ve forgotten the name of the driver on the right. Can anyone remember his name? I think he was based at Strabane.”
