The ‘grand stretch’ in the evenings is to get even better this week, as after this weekend, every sunset will take place after 5PM.
The next time it’s dark before 5pm won’t be until October.
Donegal’s last pre-5pm sunset of the winter will be today, Saturday.
The encouraging news means that longer days of spring are returning.
Today will see bright and sunny spells in the north west, with highest temperatures of 7 or 8 degrees. Cooler temperatures are returning tonight, with frost forecast in places.
The Met Eireann forecast reads: “Tonight will be mainly dry with clear spells and some patches of mist or fog. Cloud will increase in the west and north overnight. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees with a touch of frost in places with light to moderate southwest breezes.”
