Roisin Flanagan ran a superb personal best to set a new Donegal indoor 3,000m record, and to become the 4th fastest Irish woman.
The Gortin woman was second in the Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge in New York, finishing in 8:53.53.
The Finn Valley AC athlete was just behind Madison Boreman, who won in 8:50.89.
Flanagan’s run puts her fourth on the Irish list for 3,000m women times, behind Mary Cullen, Sonia O’Sullivan, and Ciara Mageean.
Roisin and her twin sister Eilish finished 12th and 11th respectively at the European Cross Country Championships in Italy, leading the Irish team to a bronze medal.
