The Donegal GAA Academy has been left in turmoil after all of its coaches, performances support and logistics support quit their position.
The announcement follows the recent departure of former All-Ireland winner Karl Lacey from his role as Head of Academy.
Lacey’s backroom team issued a statement a short time ago saying they were “disappointed in how he was treated in his role.”
However, the statement goes on “Our deepest regret lies with the approximate 350 young Donegal players which are currently at standstill who we coached and bonded with over the past 18 months and indeed their parents/guardians who were equally as committed.”
It adds “The coaches, performance support and logistics team feel that the development vision and pathway for Donegal is not aligned with or supported by the leadership within the county.
“As a group , we have lost all confidence in governance of Donegal GAA.”
The staff have quit with immediate effect.
The Under 17 and Under 20 coaches and management teams will remain in place as they are in season.
The statement adds “The integrity of our competitions must be preserved.”
