A Donegal man has been sent forward for trial at the Circuit Court on a series of charges ranging from cruelty to children to the unauthorised possession of guns.

The man, who cannot be named to protect his victims, appeared at Falcarragh District Court earlier today.

In total the man faces 22 charges which also include burglary, coercive control, theft and harassment.

A total of 13 of the charges are for alleged child cruelty.

Garda Inspector Seamus McGonigle told the court the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented for the man to go forward for trial at the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court in May.

Solicitor Rory O’Brien requested both senior and junior counsel for the accused.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham consented to bail for the accused after hearing Gardai had no objections.
