A quick-thinking Killybegs woman has scooped an amazing €30,000 on Newstalk’s Cash Machine giveaway.
Mary Gallagher got the surprise phone call from NewstalkFM on Thursday afternoon.
The challenge of the competition is to remember the exact amount of the daily prize, but that was no problem for Mary.
She rhymed off the cash total with ease: thirty thousand, five hundred and ninety-two euro, and fifty-six cent!
What was more amazing was that she was able to keep so calm to remember the amount while at work. Mary is an escort on a bus transporting people with intellectual disabilities.
Newstalk FM presenters Barry Dunne and Sean Moncrieff were amused by Mary’s cool reaction to the big win.
“Oh good job, excellent, happy days!” said Mary.
When asked if she was delighted with the win, she replied “Sure why wouldn’t I be?”
Mary said that she was going to take the evening to celebrate her win and consider how she’ll be spending the €30K. As a mum and granny, she said she has plenty of people in her life to treat.
