Fire services are battling a huge fire at Wexford General Hospital.
Several units of Wexford Fire Brigade firefighters are at the scene after the area was evacuated.
It is believed the fire broke out on the second floor of a building on the hospital campus and smoke is billowing from the roof.
Gardaí are advising people to stay away from the hospital.
It is not known if anybody has been hurt in the blaze.
A number of patients have been evacuated from the hospital.
Wexford County Council tweeted: “Due to a fire incident in Wexford General Hospital we ask that everyone avoid the area.
“Anyone living in close proximity, close windows and doors and turn off all air ventilation.”
The council said it is liaising with the Chief Fire Officer and expects to issue a statement shortly but there is currently no report of any injuries.
It described the incident as an evolving situation.
Minister of State and Wexford TD James Browne raised the fire while speaking in the Dáil and said that his “thoughts are with everybody there”.
