Dunfanaghy residents are keeping a close eye out for celebrity visitors this week as a film crew arrives in town for a seaside shoot.
Action at Killahoey beach has sparked speculation that the ‘Four Letters Of Love’ blockbuster is filming in the area.
With Pierce Brosnan spotted filming on the north coast, his possible arrival in Donegal is highly-anticipated.
The former James Bond star was almost unrecognisable when he was spotted in Ballycastle, Co Antrim, last weekend. The 69-year-old actor was sporting long grey hair and a rugged look for his role as an ageing father in the Irish drama.
‘Four Letters Of Love’, based on the best-selling novel by Niall Williams, also stars Helena Bonham Carter and Gabriel Byrne along with Normal People star Fionn O’Shea, who will play a character named Nicholas, and Ann Skelly (The Nevers).
From award-winning film-maker Polly Steele, Four Letters of Love is a life-affirming tale about faith and doubt and the miracle of love. The story is set in Dublin and on an island off the west coast of Ireland.

Nicholas (O’Shea) and Isabel (Skelly) are two strangers who are destined to meet. Brosnan takes on the part of Nicholas’ troubled father William, who leaves his job as a Dublin civil servant for the life of a painter on an island in the west of Ireland. Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects) will be playing Isabel’s father, a poet and headmaster at the island’s local school, with Bonham Carter (Harry Potter) playing his wife.
With funding from Northern Ireland Screen, the filming began in Northern Ireland in February, before moving to the Republic.
The Donegal Film Office has been to the fore of promoting Donegal as a premier film location and supporting companies in their call for crew and extras. God’s Creatures, starring Paul Mescal and Emily Watson, was filmed in south west Donegal and out in cinemas later this month. Plus, Liam Neeson’s action film In The Land of Saints and Sinners which was shot in Glencolmcille, Kilcar and Killybegs last year, is expected out on Netflix.
Donegal is alive with film activity once again this year. Filming is currently ongoing in the Bundoran/Ballyshannon area, where the TV series ‘Obituary’ is being made.
