A local councillor has again called for action after the latest water outage in the Manorcunningham area.
Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly confirmed there’s no supply in Rossbracken this morning.
“In Rossbracken we had no water on Christmas Day and St Patrick’s Day and, guess what, it’s Easter Sunday and we have no water again,” he said.
This outage is also affecting homes in the Raymoghy area.
“I have contacted Irish water and they have assured me that they will have the problem resolved,” Cllr Kelly added.
“But, this is absolutely shocking. I have a black and white email from Irish Water stating that they are aware that the pipes in this area are outdated and need replacing. Yet these residents are having to suffer time and time again. There are farmers, families and elderly all suffering now for years with water outages.”
He said Irish Water had to ‘put their hands up here’ and act on the major issue as a matter of urgency.
“I am happy that, after all my lobbying on this issue in Manorcunningham and In Bomany and Newmills area, that Irish Water have finally committed to a face to face meeting,” continued Cllr Kelly.
“But, it’s time they set a time and date to get around the table and I will be looking for that at this Tuesday’s MD meeting. The local residents are at their wits end, and rightly so, this is absolutely shocking stuff.”
