Eleven people were arrested for drink and drug driving offences in Donegal during the busy Bank Holiday weekend.
Eight drunk drivers and three drug drivers were arrested between Friday and Monday, gardaí confirmed.
Gardaí conducted high visibility checkpoints across the county over Easter weekend and fines were issued for a range of offences, mainly speeding.
In one case, a vehicle was detected travelling at 133KPH in a 80KPH zone in Burnfoot.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal to people to be careful on the roads at all times of the year.
Spokesperson Garda Grainne Doherty said: “With the brighter weather, over the coming weeks and months there will be a higher volume of traffic on the roads. There will be people out holidaying and enjoying the good weather, and with this comes an increased risk of collisions.”
Garda Doherty appealed to all road users to never take risks on the roads.
“Please use the roads responsibly, drivers are urged to slow down, wear your seatbelt and never drive while under influence of alcohol or drugs. Don’t use or hold your mobile phone while driving and think road safety at all times.”
