Concerns raised over lengthy water outage in Letterkenny area

The Mayor of Letterkenny-Milford has repeated his call for a meeting with Uisce Eireann following another unplanned outage.

Residents in Ballymacool have been without water since last night and still have no water today.

Several hundred homes are believed to be impacted by the disruption.

Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly said he has contacted Irish Water, and they are investigating the problem. However, the Mayor has expressed concerns over a lack of communication.

Cllr Kelly said: “It is concerning that Irish Water has not updated their website regarding this issue and that several hundred homes are affected. I have demanded a face-to-face meeting with Irish Water officials to address the recurring issues promptly.

“Homeowners and renters pay their taxes and deserve better treatment from Irish Water.

“Although Irish Water agreed to meet a few weeks ago, they have not set a time and date, which is unacceptable. I have urged them to publish a time and date for a face-to-face meeting urgently.”

A notice from Uisce Eireann said: ” We are investigating reports of supply disruptions affecting Ballymacool, Letterkenny and surrounding areas in Co. Donegal. More information to follow.”
