Finn Harps see increase in average home attendances

Despite being relegated from the top tier last season, Finn Harps has seen an increase in average home attendances this year to 1,575.

During last year’s ill-fated SSE Airtricity Premier Division campaign, an average of 1,293 passed through the Finn Park turnstiles.

The Navenny Street venue also recorded one of the largest First Division attendances so far this year when 2,552 paid in to see the 0-2 opening day defeat to Galway Utd.

In total, 55,799 people have attended games in the first series of matches in the SSE Airtricity First Division in 2023.

According to official figures, the average attendance in the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division in 2023 so far has increased to 1,268, compared to 1,226 in the first series of games in 2022.

Waterford recorded the highest attendance average in the first series of games with 2,283.

Seven games so far in the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division had attendances over 2,000 with the highest attendances listed below.

Top five attendances in the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division in 2023:

Waterford vs Longford Town – 2,702

Waterford vs Galway United – 2,581

Finn Harps vs Galway United – 2,552

Waterford vs Finn Harps – 2,517

Galway United vs Bray Wanderers – 2,411

Average Club attendances:

Waterford – 2,283

Galway United – 2,064

Finn Harps – 1,575

Cobh Ramblers – 1,394

Kerry – 1,194

Bray Wanderers – 822

Wexford – 805

Athlone Town – 810

Treaty United – 789

Longford Town – 756
