Killybegs Coastguard members were in action this afternoon after a boat crew got into difficulty at sea.

The alarm was raised at 4.30pm when a vessel with engine failure was reported between Muckross Head and Teelin Pier.

The rescue crew launched and made their way quickly to the area and took the casualty boat under tow.

They towed the boat to Teelin Pier to the awaiting shore team.

A spokesperson for the Coastguard is urging people to take care this Bank Holiday weekend: “If you see someone in trouble in or near the water or think that they might be in trouble dial 112/999 and ask for the Coast Guard.”
