Donegal Gardaí have reinforced their Bank Holiday weekend road safety message, reminding motorists they are out in force around the county.
Members of the Roads Policing Unit have been conducting an operation since 7am on Friday and it will continue through Monday and into Tuesday.
“Bank Holiday weekends give many of us a chance to relax and enjoy time with family and friends, but it is also a period during which traffic volumes increase on the roads across the country,” a garda spokesperson said.
“We appeal to all road users to drive with care and attention and to make road safety a top priority.”
Gardaí continue to remind drivers and motorcyclists of the four key lifesaver offences:
- Driving under the influence
- Speed
- Non wearing of Seat Belts
- Mobile Phone use
“Drive safely. Do not take unnecessary risks on the roads. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.”
