Donegal’s senior hurlers continued their excellent run in the Nicky Rackard Cup with a 2-19 to 4-07 victory over Louth, a result which ensures them of a Final date against Wicklow at Croke Park in early June.
Wicklow will provide the opposition for the final Group game next week, now a rehearsal for that final at headquarters.
Two late goals for the visitors put a better look on the scoreline for them but , despite the early loss of Declan Coulter with a serious hand injury, Donegal were always in control here.
They led 1-11 to 1-05 at halftime, Ronan McDermott again the goalscorer and when Ruairi Campbell finished well to put Donegal 2-15 to 2-06 ahead it was very much game over.
Liam McKinney with 0-07 again made a telling contribution, while Danny Cullen, who replaced the injured Coulter added three points.
So we know it’s Donegal v Wicklow already in the final, it will be interesting to see both teams approach in the game next week in O Donnell Park.
