Demolition begins on iconic Golden Grill Nightclub

It was the nightclub where many romances began and many others ended.

If the walls in Letterkenny’s Golden Grill could talk, there’d be a lot of stories told.

But those same walls are set to come tumbling down in the coming days as the building has now been secured for demolition.

Planning for that demolition was granted in the name of John Barry in 2021.

Now hoarding and safety messages have been erected on the single story structure on Letterkenny’s Port Road.

Owned and successfully run by the late Fianna Fail Senator Bernard McGlinchey, the Grill was then bought by the well-known Tinney Family in 2008.

However, the club was closed in recent years.

There is no indication as to what is planned for the prime site.

One thing is for sure, there’ll be no more slow sets in either Bella’s of the Millionaire Club.
