GAA: Glenswilly come good in second half against Milford

Unbeaten Glenswilly continued their good start to the Division Two league campaign with this hard-earned victory over a battling Milford team.

Kyle Black gave the visitors an early lead but the excellent Caoimhin Marley replied with three points in a row, two from frees.

Milford hit back with a Darragh Black point and Black blasted the ball to the net after Tony McNamee intercepted a kick-out and set him up.

Cormac Callaghan got Glenswilly’s fourth point to leave on between them , 0-04 to 1-02 and then the teams exchanged four points from frees , Shane Black and Conor Gormley for Milford and Caoimhin Marley with two for Glenswilly to bring his total to five .

Milford led by 1-04 to 0-06 at half-time.

The home team began the second-half with a bang.

A super move from defense ended with Cormac Callaghan (pictured) blasting a brilliant goal to the top corner of the net, Mark Bonner and Donal Gallagher had combined to set him up and two quick points from Marley and sub Shane McDevitt had Glenswilly four ahead in the bleak of an eye , 1-08 to 1-04.

They never really looked back from that brilliant start and added another 1-04 to their total while Milford were unable to reach their first-half standards and added only two more points , both from Kane Barrett frees.

Mark McAteer pointed and then goaled after McDevitt and Chris McMonagle created the opportunity while Marley with his seventh point.

Daithi Gildea and Jack Gallagher converted late scores to make it a comfortable Glenswilly victory by double scored , 2-12 to 1-06 and keep their unbeaten league start in tact.
