Horse and Pony Racing moved to the east of the country on Sunday last at Vicarstown Co Laois where Letterkenny up and coming star Patrick Gettigan bagged another double to make the 400 mile round trip very worthwhile.

This was young McGettigan’s seventh success of the season.

Patrick, from Ballyare, got the ball rolling in the Non Winners event when Theresa’s Joy got home by a length in an exciting finish to beat Heart Break Hill and Call Him Mr Raider.

The young Donegal rider doubled up in the 14/2 when Pac Man was delivered late under a well judged ride to get the better of The Low Road and Take A Chance filling 3rd position.

Another local jockeys Brodie Ferry and Tiernan Mc Gill where also in action and although they didn’t reach the winners enclosure they will be back in action this Saturday and Sunday in the Big Isle Manorcunningham starting at 2.30pm both days
