On the westernmost point of Inishowen, just seven miles from Buncrana, you will find a wild and beautiful location called Fort Dunree.

One of the Discovery Points along the Wild Atlantic Way, Dunree is a scenic area of rugged heather hills and rocky cliffs overlooking the North Atlantic and Lough Swilly.

Sitting atop those cliffs is Fort Dunree, ‘Fort of the Heather’. With a rich history reaching back to the 1800s and Wolfe Tone, through to both World Wars, the fort has been an important defensive site for hundreds of years, guarding the entrance to Lough Swilly.

Now it is home to a recently refurbished Museum, Wildlife Discovery Room, Exhibition spaces, 3km of walkways, Virtual Reality Units, Pier facilities and the most scenic coffee shop in Ireland!

Open from 10.30 am – 4.30 pm daily, pop Eircode F93C424 into your navigational device and you’ll find us!

For further information, call 07493 61817, email info@fortdunree.com or log on to www.fortdunree.com
