Three people were reportedly injured after an explosion at a chip van during the Rory Gallagher International Festival in Ballyshannon.

The blaze broke out last night at a hot food vendor close to the festival grounds.

At least three people were hospitalised with burns, according to local reports.

The chip van was parked at the roundabout across the river Erne. Shortly after sunset, a loud explosion was heard from the van before the flames took hold.

Fire services and gardaí were quick on the scene and the area was sealed off to protect the crowd.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) have been notified.

The Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival takes place in Ballyshannon each year in celebration of guitar legend Rory Gallagher. Thousands are attending the rock and blues music event this weekend, which continues until Sunday night.
