He’s endured a horrific eighteen months hauling himself back from injury.

Donegal fans always knew the flame-haired forward was a points bomb waiting to explode.

And that’s exactly what he did in the sunshine of MacCumhaill Park today.

An incredible nine points performance led to Gallen being named Man of the Match.

It was of some consolation to Derry star Chrissy McKaigue who was turned inside out by Gallen.

But Gallen was having non of the plaudits when interviewed by Donegal Daily’s Charlie Collins straight after the game.

A clearly gutted Gallen still thought the game was there for the taking brushing aside any compliments about his own individual performance.
