Benny Gordon was honoured by Finn Harps last night, a few days shy of his 98th birthday!

Supporting the club since its foundation, Benny and his family decided to sponsor the clash against Wexford FC at Finn Park.

At half-time, Harps’ representative, Anne Kelly, presented him with a beautiful framed photograph of his beloved Finn Park.

Benny also received a visit from Harps’ boss, Dave Rogers, and some of the squad members earlier this week.

A lover of football, he has only ever had love for one club, and he is a member of the 500 club, the Finn Harps fundraiser, in which he has won the top prize of €300 on more than one occasion.

Born in 1925, he started his working career at the Stranorlar Railway Station, but spent most of his life working for the Donegal County Council and the North Western Health Board, now HSE.

Benny’s family have taken after him for their love of the Ballybofey club, as his daughter Margaret Gordon, and grandson Callum are volunteers with the Finnsiders.
