There is sadness across the Inishowen Peninsula following the death of one of the county’s most loyal GAA servants.
Former Burt President and Chairman, Colm Grant was an icon of the club and the community where he lived.
Colm served his club and community for over 40 years in a variety of roles but always for the promotion of the game.
A spokesperson for the club said “Almost everyone who has been to Hibernian Park in Burt since it was officially opened in 1995 as a player or supporter will have received a warm welcome once inside the gate from Colm, had a few words of banter, perhaps a cup of tea after a game and spoken long enough to acknowledge the pride he had for his club for over 40 years.
“Colm thoroughly enjoyed talking about the club he loved. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
The club extended its sympathy is extended to Colm’s family.
Colm was predeceased by his wife Evelyn and was the much loved father of Fergal, Seamus, Aisling, Kevin, Sinéad, Conor, Rory, Aoife and Dara.
He was a dear brother of Tillie, Margaret, Bernadette, Mickey, the late Mary Ann, Willie, Johnny and Paddy.
He is deeply regretted and will be forever missed by his loving sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchild, brother, sisters, his extended family and friends.
Reposing at his home Monday, 26th June from 11.00am.
Removal Wednesday morning, 28th June at 10.15am to St Aengus’ Church, Burt for Requiem Mass at 11.00am followed by interment in Burt Cemetery.
