Donegal singer Mark’s song reaches millions on Love Island!

Glenties singer Mark O’Donnell is Donegal’s “type on paper” after his song was featured on Monday’s episode of hit reality TV show Love Island.

The singer’s cover of The Real Thing’s ‘You To Me are Everything’ was featured on Monday night on ITV2.

The song served as a soundtrack to Islanders Tyrique and Ella’s first date.

Mark (main pic) had sent a number of his songs to the show and had been told that there was no guarantee that it would be played.

“I chanced my arm really by sending in my songs,” Mark said.

Mark then received a huge shock when he was told just 30 minutes before the show began that his song would be played.

“I was watching the show waiting to see when it would be played,” he said.

“I didn’t know if it was going to be in the background or be part of a bigger scene.

“The fact that it was played during the date, which was the important scene, I was just buzzing.”

The song already experienced some success as many people had used it as a first dance song at their wedding and it received 900,000 views in TikTok.

“It was just outrageous to hear it on Love Island.”

Mark will be starting as a teacher this September, after completing his degree this year, while also recording new music soon.
