Racing resumed at Carrickadawson on Sunday and it was a day to cherish for Fintown jockey Tiernan Mc Gill who got his first ever winner aboard Swilly Spirit.

It was a beautiful afternoon as the ponies headed to the starting point to face the starter but the heavens opened for literally 5 minutes in driving rain. But it didn’t stop Tiernan making all on his own pony Swilly Spirit for a winner that is the start of the many more to come for the 10 year old.

Ballyare riders both Patrick Mc Gettigan and Jamie Orr hit the cross bar with three seconds between them but plenty of good days await for these two up and coming riders.

Racing moves to Co Roscommon this coming Sunday with a 1pm start.
