Thieves steal Audi A4 after breaking into family home in Buncrana

Thieves broke into a house in Buncrana and drove off with the owner’s car before crashing it.

The incident happened at a house in the area of Loch View, Buncrana in the early hours of Wednesday the 5th of July (at approximately 3.45am).

The patio door of a house was opened and entry was gained to the house.

No damage was caused to the door as it had been unlocked.

The keys of the car in the driveway were stolen from the house and the car, a black Audi A4 registration number ‘AX66 MVU’ was subsequently stolen.

The stolen car was immediately driven in the Derry direction (along the R238).

It was located in Burnfoot Village at 4.02am where it had been crashed.

A Garda spokesperson said “We appeal to anybody who may have observed any suspicious activity in the area of Loch View to contact Gardaí.

“If anybody seen this vehicle being driven along the R238 (Buncrana to Derry road) between 3.45am and 4am or if they travelled on that route and had a dash cam, we ask them to contact Gardaí in Buncrana on 074-9320540.

“We are also interested in hearing about any sightings of a silver Volvo jeep in the area on the date in question in the early hours of the morning. If anybody has any information to pass on they may contact Buncrana Garda Station or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.”
