Claire and Mervyn Hutton had a very successful Open Garden on Sunday afternoon at Moorefield, Ramelton, in aid of the RNLI.
Huge numbers attended and a magnificent sum of €2,000 was presented to John McCarter (main pic), of Lough Swilly Lifeboats later that evening. Many thanks to everyone for the fantastic support.
Crab Crawls – sea swims
During July and August, there will be 5K swim every Wednesday evening in Portnablagh with registration at the Slipway from 6.15pm in aid of the RNLI and Sheephaven Sub Aqua Search & Recovery Unit
Organised by the Gartan Open Water Swimmers, swims start at 7pm, and it’s a ‘predict your time’. All swimmers take part entirely at their own risk, and tow floats are compulsory, with a waiver signed at registration. Restricted to 16+ age group, and you may swim in wetsuits or skins, your choice. Additional kayak support and boat cover would be appreciated too if possible. Entry fee €15 with all proceeds in aid of the RNLI and Sheephaven Sub Aqua Search & recovery unit.
As an added bonus, there are additional crawls, with Downings taking place last Thursday night which had a fantastic turn out, and prizes were sponsored by Only Plaice at the Pier. Next away crawl will be Ludden Buncrana 27th July, Rathmullan 10th August and Portsalon 24th August. All of those dates will be confirmed nearer the time.
Windsurfing Downings
The annual 41st Windsurfing competition takes place this coming weekend at Downings, when Nick Fletcher and his team will be on the beach with races and fun galore for all ages and abilities. Registration on the day from 9am SAturday 23rd July, briefing at 10am, and first race at 10.30am. followed by prize giving on Sunday afternoon at 4.30pm.
